The People's Children project started with A History for the People's Children, a series of historical coloring books based on Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States. Written by Joshua Holmes and illustrated by Jesse, this series in currently in the process of publication, and Howard Zinn has this to say about them:

As I told you, we gave your first coloring book to our
grandchildren. My wife and I are both delighted with what I came home with
this time. You've done a remarkable piece of work, ingenious really. I
would love to see it widely distributed in the schools.

The card deck is an extention of the history series, breaking up the world into four sections and telling the revolutionalry history of each section through the four suits of the traditional card deck.
